Atlas Adds New Site to Worldwide Outdoor Weathering Testing Network
New Minnesota facility provides cold climate testing environment.
Deerwood, MN / March 2006 - Atlas Weathering Services Group (AWSG), a division of Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC, is pleased to announce the addition of a new Worldwide Exposure Network (WEN) site in Deerwood, Minnesota. Extreme cold temperatures that characterize this site during the winter months will provide valuable test data for some plastic and other materials that may fail in extreme cold conditions.
Categorized as a northern cold climate, the Deerwood, Minnesota exposure site has a long winter spell with an abundant number of winter freeze days. Spring and fall are marked with numerous freeze/thaw cycles and summers are moderately temperate.
The site is located at 46º 47´ North Latitude and 93º 9´ West Longitude. The annual mean temperature is 5.3° C (41.5° F) and the mean relative humidity is 70%. Annual precipitation is approximately 700 mm and the site averages approximately 5,000 MJ/m2 of total radiation per year.
