Atlas Announces Lux Measurement Option for the Ci Series Xenon Arc Weather-Ometer®
Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC, a global leader in material durability testing services and technology, today announced a new lux measurement option for all Ci3000+, Ci4000 and Ci5000 Xenon Arc Weather-Ometers®. Producers of paper or inks for photographic materials will use this type of equipment to meet the new test method for ink jet and traditional color photograph methods that specifies measurement and control in lux.
While most lightfastness or weathering standards specify measurement and control in irradiance (W/m2), lux values refer only to energies found in the visible spectrum including energies found in UV, visible and IR spectrums of a light source. When testing photographic materials, comparisons are made to "real world" conditions where actual lux measurements have been made. These include various locations within a house, an office building, a gallery or a museum. Because of the proliferation of digital cameras and equipment, this type of testing is necessary to help determine the permanence of inkjet and other types of digital prints.
"Atlas is committed to providing its customers with the most advanced product in the market to meet the changing needs of our digital world," said Mark Chomiczewski, Director, Strategic Sales for Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC, "This new technology provides our customers with enhanced features to meet current testing method requirements."
The lux feature is designed to be an option on new Weather-Ometers or as a field kit for current generation Ci3000+, CI4000 and the Ci5000 Weather-Ometers. Measuring and controlling in lux is also used in CD/DVD testing as well as a requirement in the ICH Guideline for pharmaceutical testing.
