Atlas Material Testing Technology presents new product enhancements at this years Fakuma in Friedrichshafen (Germany)

Linsengericht, August 2006 - Atlas will take part in the Fakuma international trade fair for plastics processing being held in Friedrichshafen from 17th to 21st October this year.

Atlas, which offers an extensive range of weathering and light fastness testing instruments designed for the plastic processing industry, will be exhibiting in hall B3, booth 9311.

At the show, Atlas will exhibit the new Ci4000 Weather-Ometer®, offering an enhanced digital control system, that gives operators more flexibility and control of their accelerated weathering testing. One of the most notable changes is a modern, full colour TFT touch screen display with intuitive icons for easier interpretation of operating parameters and warnings. However, at the heart of the upgrade is the embedded control system that replaces the PLC controller of the previous generation. Internally, analog control circuits were replaced with a robust digital network for more reliable and accurate control and monitoring of the data. Memory capacity has been significantly increased allowing additional features and functions previously managed by external controllers - such as water resistivity and lamp water temperature. Now with a single control system, operators can be more efficient analyzing instrument performance, monitoring test parameters and performing calibration procedures.

The second new offering is the Xenotest® Alpha+ with its convenient touch screen display that allows operators to program and perform weathering testing with a touch of a button. The actual test state and the graphical progress of test parameters can be easily read off the full colour display. With the PC interface RS 232, a USB slave port and a SmartMedia™ card, data can be easily transferred. The microprocessor control system with the latest generation of fibre optic cables allows an optimal data transfer between process control and system modules. Another benefit of the new Alpha+ is the simplified menu driven programming with ten free programmable tests as well as up to ten pre-programmed standard tests. The easy to use touch screen display, the reliable sensor technology and the multifunctional instrument features like for example an ultrasonic humidification and specimen spray system prove the Alpha+ is a universal weathering testing instrument that meets virtually all global weathering and light fastness test requirements.

Also presented at Fakuma 2006 will be the new SUNTEST XXL+. As a member of the SUNTEST family, the SUNTEST XXL+ offers a state-of-the-art, flatbed xenon exposure system to test the long-term effects that light, heat and moisture will have on your products in their end-use environment. The XXL+ comes with our easy-to-use colour touch screen, and the ability to control all relevant weathering settings. The 3000 cm2 specimen tray is ideal for high volume testing, testing of large components and three-dimensional parts. Standard sample holders for flat samples guarantee maximum throughput. The exposure area has a slope of 5° to most accurately simulate outdoor testing and water run off from sample surfaces. Furthermore, the XXL+ offers a specimen spray to test the long-term effect moisture will have on materials.
