Atlas Partners With Aspen Research To Deliver Analysis And Consulting Services
To complement its own proven expertise in weathering testing, Atlas Material Testing Technology has established a strategic alliance with Aspen Research Corporation to provide product analysis and consulting.
Aspen is an experienced scientific research company with a staff of 100 scientists, consultants and specialists in a variety of disciplines including chemistry, physics and statistics.
Together, the two firms can answer the three primary questions that weathering customers have:
- How did my product perform?
- Why did my product perform as it did?
- How can I make my product last longer?
The goal of the alliance is to enable customers to obtain science-based direction on product improvement, after testing their materials with Atlas.
Aspen has extensive experience in evaluating the durability of many types of materials - especially polymeric items. Operating from a major facility in St. Paul, Minnesota, Aspen possesses analytical chemical instrumentation and processing equipment.
Once samples have been tested in Atlas's state-of-the-art weathering equipment, Aspen's analysts can then analyze the results in order to recommend improvements, identify a product's suitability for use, or specify its actual service lifetime.
"Together, Atlas and Aspen represent a total solution for weathering customers," said Larry Masters, President and CEO of Atlas. "Atlas handles the front end through state-of-the-art testing, while Aspen provides the critical follow-through, including specific recommendations on product development to remedy any issues uncovered during testing."
For example, Atlas's advanced equipment could determine that a particular paint formulation will last 10 years in outdoor conditions. Aspen's chemists could then identify specific ways to adjust the paint formula in order to extend performance.
Among the solutions offered by the Atlas-Aspen partnership are:
- Durability and service life prediction
- Product failure and prevention analysis
- Failure mode and effect analysis
- Product R&D
- Product/process/cost improvement
- Materials research, development and commercialization
- Test data interpretation and data mining
