J.C. Penney Approves QuickWash Plus™ for Shrinkage Testing
Shorter Testing Time With the Same Results.
July 2000 -- CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- J.C. Penney Company has announced the approval of the Quickwash Plus System for use in fabric shrinkage testing by its suppliers. After a six month study, J.C. Penney determined that test results from the Quickwash Plus System were comparable to results using the standard washer-dryer test method. However, Quickwash Plus produced results in 15-20 minutes versus 8-12 hours using the standard washer-dryer method.
J.C. Penney has been testing the correlation data between Quickwash Plus and home washing -- both top-loading and front-loading -- and concluded that there is no difference in the results obtained from either method in terms of quality. Therefore, J.C. Penney accepts the Quickwash Plus for testing and suppliers can now test for shrinkage in less than 20 minutes versus the 8-12 hours it has taken in the past.
J.C. Penney is continually evaluating new test equipment to facilitate efforts by its suppliers to improve production rates and meet the stringent demands of J.C. Penney's Quality Assurance Standards. The Quickwash Plus test method will be available on the J.C. Penney's supplier web site in the near future.
The Quickwash Plus System was developed and commercialized by Raitech, Inc., partner of Atlas Textile Test Products division, as an accelerated tester for determining dimensional stability or shrinkage of fabric. Earlier this year, the AATCC approved test method TM 187-2000 for Quickwash. There are currently over 200 Quickwash instruments in operation worldwide.
The Quickwash Plus is an innovative addition to Atlas' line of more than 20 textile test instruments. From Pilling Testers to Fade-Ometers, flammability chambers to outdoor weathering testing, Atlas offers the most complete line of products and the highest level of service while conforming to global test standards. Atlas Electric Devices Co. is ISO 9002 registered.
