StoreLight® Filter System Exactly Replicates In-Store Lighting for Accelerated Testing
CHICAGO, IL / August 1, 2005 - Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC, the global leader in weathering testing services and technology, has developed StoreLight®, a new system of filters designed to exactly simulate in-store lighting at an accelerated rate.
The new filters can be used to test food and beverages sold in supermarkets; packaged goods marketed in department or convenient stores; or, materials and coatings for structures used inside stores, and supermarkets, like displays and shelves.
"Some products are never exposed to the sun during their lifetime," notes Jamie Chesler, Corporate Marketing Manager at Atlas. "Producers and distributors of these products have been looking for more realistic test methods to save costs of over engineering their packaging to meet a test that was designed to replicate sunlight."
The StoreLight filter system was developed in cooperation with a leading beverage manufacturer. The two companies took extended spectral measurements within different supermarkets and beverage shops to precisely replicate the in-store environment. StoreLight has a cut-on wavelength at about 360 nm to ensure that the UV stress on products is simulated in a realistic way. StoreLight is available for Atlas' bench-top weathering instruments, the SUNTET CPS/CPS+ and SUNTEST XLS/XLS+.
